I joined as a Trainee Recruitment Consultant in 1985 having recently graduated in International Relations and Politics. As you can probably discern from this I wasn’t certain what career I wanted, a situation which may be familiar to you. I did know that I wanted to be successful and that I wanted a job which provided a challenging yet supportive environment where I could learn a multitude of tasks and take control of my earnings. I wasn’t disappointed and have loved my job ever since!


Like many people in Hays I progressed my career quickly. Some of the more senior roles I have held include Head of Hays Construction & Property, which then led to me being Managing Director at Hays Insurance and Financial Services in the UK, before taking up my current role here in Dubai in 2009.

You can expect to be leading your own team of consultants within two to three years of joining us or faster still if you are exceptional. We have developed and are deploying an improved model, one which we call Find & Engage. This takes the best recruitment practices and candidate relationships our consultants have developed over many years, and combines them with new technology and data science techniques available today to ensure we find the best candidates for any given role.


This approach puts the relationship back at the heart of recruitment, but uses digital technology, machine learning and data science to operate on a massive scale that has not previously been possible.
